HÔTEL RESTAURANT BAUTEZAR ET MUSÉE, LES BAUX-DE-PROVENCE
Physical location – Grand rue, 13520 Les Baux-de-Provence, France
Our take – Situated amidst the bauxite cliffs of Provence, this welcoming oasis offers apéritifs, relaxed meals with a seasonal wine menu. Enjoy “un repas” on the outdoor gallery or indoors within the old traditional stone-hewn walls of the establishment. The views are inspiring, the menu features Southern French country fare, and the staff exude an infectious joie de vivre. I wish we were there now!
LE VERGER DES PAPES RESTAURANT, CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE
Physical location – Château des Papes, Rue Montée du Château, 84230 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, France
Our take – Excellent cuisine coupled with a fine wine list, prominently featuring the eponymous Châteuaneuf-du-Pape reds produced in the area. The views from the terrace are exquisite and afford guests a birds-eye view of the valley below the celebrated château. We eagerly await the news that this must-visit restaurant is welcoming discriminating diners and wine aficionados once again!
CHEZ FRANCIS, LA RIVE DROITE, PARIS
Physical location – 7 Place de l’Alma, 8ème, Paris, France
Our take – For the past 20 years it’s been our go-to spot for a bit of liquid refreshment in the middle of the afternoon or a lunch with friends at one of the outdoor tables. In winter, it’s always a table inside with a cup of soupe à l’onion and a hot, crusty baguette. Positioned perfectly at the intersection of the très chic Avenue Montaigne and Avenue George V, you’ll revel in the views of the Seine and la Tour Eiffel just across the bridge on the Rive Gauche.
